Lots more info there!

Emma was born c. 1840 at Llansoy, the daughter of a clergyman, John Price and his wife Rachel Price. She was baptised at Llansoy on 3rd February 1840 at Llansoy parish church.

She married William Morgan of Hill Farm, Glascoed at the church where her father was now the Rector - Llanfihangel Torymynydd on 27th June 1865. They had at least four children, all born at Glascoed:

William Henry Gwyn Morgan (born c. 1866, baptised 8th April 1866 at either Usk or Glascoed).

John Endel Morgan (born c. 1867, bap 14th October 1867 at either Usk or Glascoed). John died at Llanfihangel Torymynydd in 1879, aged 11, being buried on 15th April 1879 at that church - apparently he must have been living with his grandfather, John Price, the Rector of Llanfihangel.

Alfred Hedley Morgan was born c. 1869 and was baptised at Glascoed on 6th Jan 1869. He was living with John Price, his grandfather at the time of the 1881 census.

Emma Rachel Gertrude Morgan was born in around 19th March 1871 (she was said to be 14 days old on the census of 1871) and baptised on 21st September 1871 at either Usk or Glascoed.

William and Emma continued to live at Hill Farm, until somewhere between 1872 and 1874.

UPDATE (5th Aug 10)

At first glance, it appeared that Emma must have died in the early 1870s, since we see William on the 1881 census at Grays, in Essex, now working as a Cement factory labourer, with a new wife (Susan). I have not yet managed to trace their marriage.

Having looked at this with fresh eyes, I am not so sure about this conclusion. It may well be a transcription error (the IGI transcription is the one that I had seen). “Susan” is exactly the same age that Emma would have been in 1881 and is said to be born in “Hansay”. This too is likely a mistranscription of Llansoy. I have found christening records at St. Brides Netherwent for 4 more of Emma’s children, taking us up to 1877 and subsequent children were born to at least William in 1879 and 1880. I have not found these christening records, but it is quite possible that Emma was the mother here also. In due course I intend to renew an ancestry.co.uk or similar subscription to check the original handwriting on this census and subsequent ones, which should confirm whether Emma was dead or alive in 1883.

Emma’s father died in 1883. He was buried in his parish churchyard, at Llanfihangel Torymynydd on 16th November of that year.
