Ann Simons was born, in 1931 at the Wern Farm, Glascoed. Some years later, her father Albert took charge of the Hill Farm, Glascoed.

Ann married into the Cork family. Her husband lived at Bryn Melyn, Glascoed, which his father had helped to build.
