Llangwendr Farm, near Llangovan

This page has been developed by Hilary Whitton and is linked to Maria Arnold’s (nee Jones) parents - William and Ann Jones. Maria married Richard Arnold at Llanishen in 1823 and they moved to Maes Mawr, Glascoed around 1842. Many thanks to Hilary. See also Tregeiriog House page, another farm linked to the Jones and Arnold families.

Llangwendr Farm, near Llangovan. NP25 4BT.

Location: south of Llangovan, west of Kingcoed.

Llanishen Court (Llanishen House in 1841) is south & slightly east of Llangwendr (bordering each other?).

Llangwenddwr: home of William & Ann Jones indicated on the baptisms of their children at Penyclawdd; children also baptised at Llanishen but no details of abode given; double baptism seems an unusual situation

(Hilary’s) 3x great grandfather William bapt 30 Sept 1800 Penyclawdd & 2 Oct 1800 Llanishen

Welsh Newspapers Online: search on Llangwender; several mentions often to do with hounds; mentioned with Tregeiriog as two of the largest farms in the area. To find articles about Tregeiriog search on Tregirog
